Children’s Fashion Trends for Fall 2016

Baby and toddler fashion will emphasize sophisticated and gender neutral motifs, shying away from the pink and blue hues of days gone by. This means that black and white - along with other earthy colors - will be the top color combination for trendy babies. Decadent shades of red, rich shades of orange, royal purple, and deep blue-infused greens will be the norm. Not to be outdone, Terracotta and calm shades of gray will also be seen, providing a beautiful contrast to the flurry of vibrant colors.

With the weather cooling down, leaves beginning to turn colors, and pumpkin food items popping up to usher in holiday festivities, it’s time to start preparing our children’s wardrobe: cleaning out the clothing that is too small or unfit for cooler weather and restocking with the replacements.

Comfy oversized knit sweaters with leggings, overalls, and skinny jeans…

And as you head to stores to stock up on warmer clothes for your children, you will notice some fun themes across department stores. Children’s fashion trends will also focus on imitating the fashion of adults. While perusing the clothing racks at any local department store, you will be guaranteed to see knit jackets with cute embroidery, comfy over-sized knit sweaters with leggings, overalls, and skinny jeans. Ponchos are making a wild, yet stylish, come back with fun patterns such as plaid. Scarves are also “in”, adding an extra layer of warmth this fall and winter. Yet, for all the fashion-forward trends, clothing and accessories will still include basic childhood favorites – such as slouchy beanies and converse – to reflect the comfort and east that all children desire.

    • Melanie,

What a cute idea to do for your daughter. I would love to hear how that pans out for you! I am glad to hear that my post was both relevant and helpful to you. Is there anything else wardrobe/fashion/etc. related that you would like to see posted in the future?

      Have a wonderful weekend,
      Anna
